TWO GREAT FILM CHOICES
FOR WINE, FOOD & FILM

THE SEVEN YEAR ITCH
Dir. Billy Wilder / USA / 1955 / NR / 105min / 35mm

When New York businessman Richard Sherman (Tom Ewell) settles in for a summer of work while his wife and son are away in Maine, he couldn't possibly imagine that temptation would be moving in upstairs. But it does, and as incarnated by Monroe (in the dress she and a subway draft made immortal), temptation takes the upper hand in this witty and ribald adaptation of the Tony Award-winning play.

INTO THE ABYSS
Dir. Werner Herzog / USA / 2011 /
NR / 106min / 35mm

The Belcourt Theatre's first run film series
is sponsored by SunTrust.

In his fascinating examination of a triple homicide case in Conroe, Texas, Werner Herzog probes the human psyche to explore why people kill-and why a state kills. In intimate conversations with those involved, including 28-year-old death row inmate Michael Perry (who was scheduled to die eight days after his interview with Herzog), the filmmaker achieves what he describes as "a gaze into the abyss of the human soul." As he's so often done before, Herzog's investigation unveils layers of humanity, making an enlightening trip out
of ominous territory.
