Opéra de Montréal opens its season with Puccini's Turandot, a co-production with Washington National Opera and The Dallas Opera featuring a retrofuturist staging by Francesca Zambello. The production includes a new ending by composer Christopher Tin and librettist Susan Soon He Stanton, which premiered at the Kennedy Center in 2024. In a kingdom ruled by fear, Princess Turandot forces suitors to solve three riddles or face death, and Prince Calaf risks his life to win her love. The cast includes Maida Hundeling, Andrea Shin, Kirsten MacKinnon, Raymond Aceto, and Richard Margison, with the Orchestre Métropolitain performing under Paolo Arrivabeni.
