Georges Bizet's Carmen comes to the Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier at Place des Arts in a production directed by Anna Theodosakis, who integrates traditional flamenco elements into the choreography and staging. Conducted by Jean-Marie Zeitouni with the Orchestre Métropolitain, the cast features Rihab Chaieb as Carmen, Arturo Chacón-Cruz as Don José, Ethan Vincent as Escamillo, and Magali Simard-Galdès as Micaëla. Set in the streets of Seville, the opera follows the fiercely independent Carmen as her refusal to submit to the soldier Don José's possessiveness leads to a tragic end. The production brings together nearly 150 performers across five performances running May 2–12, 2026.
