Review: FOREVER K-POP - A CELEBRATION CONCERT at State Theatre Minneapolis

On April 28, 2026, Forever K-Pop – A Celebration Concert rolled into the State Theatre and basically turned it into a mini K-pop arena. Presented by Hennepin Arts, the whole night had that big, flashy concert vibe—lights, energy, nonstop movement—the kind of show where you don’t really get a chance to sit back and relax (in a good way).

The cast—Ally Choe (Sora), Tuânminh A. Đỗ (Jin), Emily Anne Goes (Mina), Leo Lam (Kai), Marine Tamada-Wu (Luna), and Amanda Nawata Neiman (DJ Nari)—came out strong and just kept going. The transitions were super quick, the choreography was tight, and everything felt really locked in. At the same time, it didn’t feel stiff—they looked like they were actually having fun up there, which made it way more enjoyable to watch.

The singing held up too, even with all the dancing. That’s not easy, but they made it work. The slower songs gave things a chance to breathe a bit and let some of the vocals stand out, while the bigger numbers were all about energy and stage presence.

The crowd was definitely part of the show. Lots of cheering, clapping, people getting into it—it didn’t take long before it felt more like a concert than a theater performance. By the middle of the night, the whole place had that buzz where you could tell everyone was just having a good time.

Everything behind the scenes looked solid too—lighting, sound, staging, all of it worked without getting in the way. It just helped build that full K-pop feel. You can tell it was put together by teams that know what they’re doing.

By the end, it did exactly what it set out to do. It’s fun, loud, and easy to enjoy whether you’re super into K-pop or just tagging along. Honestly, it just felt like a really fun night out.
