The Bach Festival Society of Winter Park's CD SING O YE HEAVENS Wins National Award
The Bach Festival Society of Winter Park is pleased to announce that its first nationally distributed CD, Sing, O Ye Heavens: Moravian Sacred Vocal Music Performed by the Bach Festival Choir and Orchestra, has won a second place Just Plain Folks Music Award in the Classical Voice/Opera Choral Category for 2009, competing against 10 nominees. This year Just Plain Folks screened 42,000 albums and 560,000 songs submitted for awards.
Just Plain Folks is a community of over 51,500 songwriters, recording artists, and music industry professionals-and host to the world's largest independent music awards. The organization was created to provide a network of cooperation and inclusion for musicians. The Just Plain Folks Music Awards were started in 1999 as a way to recognize the best music submitted by members.Sing, O Ye Heavens is the product of a partnership between the Bach Festival Society and the Moravian Music Foundation. The CD features some of the most beloved music of the Moravian Church, performed by the Bach Festival Choir and Orchestra along with visiting Moravian singers.
