THE CAT AND THE HAT Comes to Riverside Theatre This October

Riverside Theatre for Kids presents one of Dr. Seuss' most famous characters, The Cat in The Hat, in a live stage show on October 4-6, 2018.

From the moment his tall, red-and-white-striped hat appears around the door, Sally and her brother know that The Cat in the Hat is the funniest, most mischievous cat that they have ever met. With the trickiest of tricks and the craziest of ideas, he is certainly loads of fun. He turns a rainy afternoon into an amazing adventure... but what will mom find when she gets home...?

Performed by our four performance apprentices alongside two local children, this will be the perfect show to bring young audience members and help foster the love of theatre!

Written by Theodor Geisel under his pen name, Dr. Seuss, the story was first published in 1957 and gained immediate acclaim. The story centers on a cat wearing a red and white-striped hat and red bow tie. With tricks and ingenious ideas, he helps entertain Sally and her brother on a rainy day when their mother is away. The cat and his companions, Thing One and Thing Two, wreck the house, but can they restore it before mother comes home?

"We are pleased to be offering our fun-filled take on such a classic book," says Kevin Quillinan, Director of Theatre Education at Riverside Theatre and Director of this production of The Cat in The Hat. "Most everybody has experienced this book as a child, an adult reading it to a child, or both, so we know this show will warm the hearts and delight the imaginations of our audiences. This will be the perfect 'first show' for the next generation of theatre lovers to experience!"

The cast includes: Theo Blumstein (Cat), Ben Lundy (Thing One), Sofia Tosches (Thing Two), Lily Warner (Fish), Chantal Werner (Sally), and David Callahan (Boy).

Along with Director Quillinan, the creative team includes: Emily Perry (Scenic Design), Anna Hillbery (Costume Design), Noah Parsons (Lighting Design), Andrew Stroud (Sound Design), Anna Cable (Props Design) and Keelin Higgins (Stage Manager).

Performances are: October 4 & 5 @ 7pm, October 6 @ 2pm & 7pm. Tickets are $10 and can purchased by calling the Riverside Box Office at 772-231-6990 or online at www.riversidetheatre.com.
