The Pembroke Pines Theatre of the Performing Arts Presents Auditions for Bye Bye Birdie!

Auditions are open to the public and anyone may audition regardless of experience.

* PPTOPA is a non-profit, community based, theatrical organization and actors are NOT compensated for appearances.

Musical Guidelines - Prepare 16 measures of an upbeat or 16 measures of a ballad in your key. It is recommended that the selection is from the musical you are auditioning for, however, is not required. Choose a piece you are comfortable with and one that shows off your strengths Sheet music is required; CD's or a capella will NOT be permitted. Be prepared to read cold from the script. Familiarize yourself with the show if possible.

Audition information is subject to change due to weather and other unforeseen circumstances. Please check www.pptopa.com prior to going to auditions.

Auditions are scheduled for August 25th & 26th, 2009 from 7:00pm until 9:00pm
Callbacks if needed are on August 31st from 7:00 - 9:00pm
All talent will be notified if they will be cast for the show no later than September 3rd.

Shows and Auditions Will be Held at: Susan Katz Theatre at the River of Grass ArstPark (Located in the FIU Campus)

Bye Bye Birdie Performance Schedule - Fall 2009 - (4 shows per weekend) - This includes Friday, Saturday & Sunday of Thanksgiving Weekend:
Friday and Saturday at 8:00 pm on November 6,7,13,14,20,21,27,28
Saturday and Sunday at 2:00 pm on November 7,8,14,15,21,22,28,29

Albert Peterson - Baritone (29- 39) President of Almaelou Music Corp., Conrad Birdie's agent and songwriter - Acting, Singing and Dancing Required
Rose Alvarez - Mezzo (26-35) Albert's secretary and love - Feisty of Hispanic Origin - Strong Singing, Acting and Dancing. Comedic Timing
Conrad Birdie - Baritone (21-28) Rock and Roll Elvis-like superstar.
Kim MacAfee - Soprano (17-19)Teen-age girl from Sweet Apple, Ohio. Pretty and self-possessed. Strong singing and acting, some dancing.
Mr. Harry MacAfee - Baritone (40-55) A typical old fashioned, grumpy, frustrated with the behavior of "teenagers today". Mrs. Doris MacAfee - Mezzo (40-50) Kim's Mother
Mrs. Mae Peterson - Mezzo/baritone (55-75) Albert's overbearing, controlling mother. Strong acting and good comedic timing. This role is open to male and female actors.
Hugo Peabody - Non-singing (17-19) Kim's "jealous" boyfriend
Randolph MacAfee - Tenor (8-10) Kim's younger brother
Ursula Merkle - Mezzo (13-17)A hyper-enthusiastic teen friend and neighbor of Kim's
Mrs. Merkle - Non Singing (40-50)Ursula's mother
Gloria Rasputin - Non Singing, Comedic, Dancing (25-35)
Mayor - Non Singing (45- 70)Mayor of Sweet Apple, Ohio
Charles F. Maude - Second Tenor (40-65) Proprieter/ bartender of "Maude's Roadside Retreat." Part of Male Quartet
Maude's Dishwasher - First Tenor (30-60) Part of male quartet
Maude's First Customer - Baritone (30-60) - Part of male quartet
Maude's Second Customer - Bass (30-6) - Part of male quartet
Teen Boy Chorus - Singing, Some Dancing (14-19) From the chorus will be selected feature roles including Harvey, Fred and Karl
Teen Girl Chorus - Singing, Dancing (14-19) From the chorus will be selected feature roles including Helen, Alice, Margie, Deborah Sue, Penelope, Suzie, Nancy,
Sad Girls(Strong Dancing)
Adult Chorus - Singing, Some Dancing (20-50) From the chorus will be selected feature roles including Mayor's Wife, Policemen, Reporters, Phyllis, MR. Johnson
