Maltz Jupiter Theatre Gives Back To The Local Community
By: Gabrielle Sierra
The Maltz Jupiter Theatre is continuing the success of its 2009/2010 season by opening its doors to other organizations so they can further their fund-raising missions and, along the way, introduce the theatre to new audiences.
"Out of season, the Maltz Jupiter Theatre has the opportunity to recognize the talents and needs of our community," said Andrew Kato, artistic director of the Maltz Jupiter Theatre. "We are happy to be able to make the theatre available for three outstanding programs."Making a difference is what the events at the theatre are all about. The first performance is Shine the Light, a celebration of music and dance in memory of Makayla Joy Sitton, the young girl whose life was cut short last Thanksgiving. The show, scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday, April 25, will be a joyful afternoon of classics, hymns and inspirational music, along with breath-taking ballet. The show, to be produced and presented by the Jupiter Academy of Music, with the participation of Florida Classical Ballet Theatre and the Young Singers of the Palm Beaches, will help make a difference in the lives of other children who share Makayla's love for the arts by raising money for scholarships at Jupiter Academy of Music. Don't miss art displayed by Lighthouse Center for the Arts in the lobby. Tickets are $15-$50.
Tickets to Shine the Light and The Importance of Being Earnest may be purchased by calling (561) 575-2223 or (800) 466-1666 or by logging on to www.jupitertheatre.org.
Last in the series of shows is Mary Poppins, which will be presented by the Atlantic Dance Theater in association with Atlantic Arts Academy. The Atlantic Dance Theater is a pre-professional dance company made up of upper-level dancers from Atlantic Arts Academy in Jupiter. Performances will be 7 p.m. Saturday, May 15, and 2 p.m. Sunday, May 16. Tickets are $20-$25, and can be purchased by calling the Atlantic Dance Theater box office at (561) 575-4942 or by logging on to www.TheAtlanticTheater.com.
