Iris Acker's 'On Stage' Celebrates 20 Years

"ON STAGE WITH IRIS ACKER" CELEBRATES 20 YEARS!
FORT LAUDERDALE -- Local cultural arts show, ON STAGE WITH IRIS ACKER, broadcast weekly on BECON-TV, is celebrating 20 years of promoting the performing arts in South Florida.
Every theater in South Florida is highlighted in her show as she focuses on workshops in the arts, film, dance and theater, and the developing careers of local and nationally renowned actors whose careers she enjoys fostering.
"As an actor myself I can really get them to open up as to how they got started, as well as the perils of auditioning," says Acker.
"As Iris starts her 21st season, BECON-TV shares her enthusiasm as we expand our signal into Miami," says Dr. Phyllis Schiffer-Simon, Director of BECON. "All of our educational and entertaining programing can be seen throughout South Florida on the air on UHF Channel 63 and on Cable Channel 19 in Broward and 16 in Miami."
In her show, Iris always asks her guests "what got you where you are today, and what do you recommend for those just starting out." Iris has interviewed many well-known celebrities such as Chita Rivera, Hal Linden, Valerie Harper, Theodore Bikel and Edward Villella.
"They all recommend young actors to take classes," says Acker. "And in the past George Abbott, Jose Ferrer and Julie Harris recommended that we all 'Go to the Theater' and that's how I usually end my shows ... Please go to the theater."
Watch ONSTAGE WITH IRIS ACKER Fridays at 7:00 PM throughout South Florida on BECON-TV (WPPB 63, Cable 19 in Broward and 16 in Miami) and on the Educational Network in Palm Beach on Channel 19.
