Southeastern Premiere NOVEMBER by David Mamet  

Set in the Oval Office just days before a presidential election, this funny new play by Pulitzer Prize winner David Mamet, which just closed on Broadway, involves civil marriages, gambling casinos, lesbians, American Indians, presidential libraries, questionable pardons and campaign contributions.

December 27 – February 1, 2009 

Southeastern Premiere ADDING MACHINE Music by Joshua Schmidt; libretto by Jason Loewith and Mr. Schmidt.

Darkly comic and heartfelt, this Award-Winning musical adaptation of Elmer Rice's incendiary 1923 play tells the story of Mr. Zero who, after 25 years of service to his company, is replaced by a mechanical adding machine. A satiric view of capitalism that bares comparison with our own unsettled economy today.

Southeastern Premiere DEFIANCE by John Patrick Shanley  

On a United States Marine Corps base in North Carolina in 1971, two officers--one black and one white--are on a collision course over race, women and the high cost of doing the right thing. This riveting new work by the author of the Tony Award-winning Doubt is about power, love and responsibility – who has it, who wants it and who deserves it.

April 18 – May 24  

Southeastern Premiere NO CHILD by Nilaja Sun  

Shines a light on the struggles and miracles of America's public schools. A one-character play where the actor transforms herself into an entire classroom of children, their teachers, their parents, the principal, the janitor and even a security guard with a metal detector at the front door. A play which proves that one passionate person can still make a difference.

Southeastern Premiere THE NEW CENTURY by Paul Rudnick 

This comedy, which was produced at Lincoln Center last season, revolves around a Jewish mother from Long Island with three children of assorted gay incarnations; a flamboyant resident of Palm Beach and a Midwest craftswoman visiting New York for the first time. These delicious and distraught characters collide under surprising circumstances, as we discover just where our new century might be heading.

August 15 – September 13    

World Premiere LEWD AND LASCIVIOUS by Michael McKeever  

Commissioned by GableStage, this new play by South Florida's Award-Winning playwright, deals with Newton Arvin, real-life respected professor and author at Smith College. Investigations into homosexual images received by Arvin in the mail led to his arrest by the Massachusetts State Police in 1960. When two close friends and colleagues become embroiled in the scandal, Arvin is forced to decide whether to give them up in exchange for leniency in sentencing.
