The Ghost Light Series celebrates its second anniversary with a reading of Lillian Hellman's Another Part of the Forest.

Another Part of the Forest is regarded as the antecedent to an additional Hellman masterpiece, The Little Foxes (even though Foxes was written first.)  Forest takes place in late nineteen century Alabama and centers on the wealthy, but despised Hubbard clan.

The patriarch, Marcus, made his fortune during the Civil War by running the blockade. His family life is made up of bullying his youngest son, Oscar, ignoring his demented wife, Lavinia and doting after his only daughter, Regina. Its only his elder son, Benjamin, who is unaffected by Marcus' posturing. The saga unfolds when we see who will overthrow Marcus' position as his misdeeds catch up to him.

Another Part of the Forest had its New York premiere at the Fulton Theatre on November 20, 1946. This presentation November 20th of this year, marks 60 years to the night that this hard-hitting drama opened on Broadway.

The reading will be presented at the Hagen Park Community Center, 2020 Wilton Drive in Wilton Manors at 7:30pm. Admission is Free. For more information, please call 954-270-0998.
