The FIU Opera Theater will present a double-bill of British operas
as part of its annual spring opera production.   The first work will
be Riders to the Sea, a production of the famous
J.M. Synge play by the composer Ralph Vaughan Williams.
It is an emotional drama that depicts the struggles and suffering
of an Irish matriarch and her family on the remote Aran Islands.

The second work will be Trial By Jury, a delightfully satirical romp
by Gilbert & Sullivan that pokes fun at the British judicial system.
This was the first operatic collaboration between these two masters
and their brilliant verbal and musical wit is fully on display!
