Dr. Michael Blachly, Director of UFPA Elected To Board of the Association of Performing Arts Presenters

Dr. Michael Blachly, Director of University of Florida Performing Arts (UFPA), was recently elected to the board of the Association of Performing Arts Presenters.
Since arriving in Gainesville in 2000 from California where he served as Director of UCLA Performing Arts, Dr. Michael Blachly has expanded the live performing arts for the Heart of Florida community in his position as Director of University of Florida Performing Arts. Blachly holds a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology/Higher Education Administration from the University of Tennessee. His performing arts career spans more than 35 years, as a presenter, a manager and an agent.At the University of Florida, Dr. Blachly is responsible for all public performing arts events presented under the auspices of the University of Florida Performing Arts in the Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, University Auditorium, the Baughman Center and, on occasion, the Stephen C. O'Connell Center. In addition, he oversees the departmental operations inclusive of fiscal management, marketing, educational residency activities, community outreach, fund development, commissioning, technical production, and facility coordination and scheduling.
Dr. Blachly has served as a campus-wide resource as Co-Chair of the University's Sesquicentennial Celebration, Chair of President J. Bernard Machen's Inauguration, Chair to the University's Homecoming Advisory Committee, The 50th Commemoration of Integration at the University of Florida, and on committees for the University of Florida Foundation, University Athletic Association and various university colleges and departments.
About the Association of Performing Arts Presenters:Founded in 1957, the Association of Performing Arts Presenters (Arts Presenters or APAP) is the national service organization for the field of arts presenting. The organization is dedicated to developing and supporting a robust performing arts presenting field and the professionals who work in it. Arts Presenters has nearly 2,000 organizational members and brings nearly 4,000 performing arts professionals together from around the world at the annual APAP Conference NYC. Members range from the nation's leading performing arts centers, to civic and university performance facilities, to the full spectrum of artist agencies, managers, national consulting practices that service the field, and a growing roster of self-presenting artists.
