By: Feb. 04, 2006

CATS is about to take the stage in Miami!

The Miami Stage Company, is about to launch its eagerly awaited
musical production of CATS by Andrew Lloyd Weber March 2,4,9,11 at 8pm

and
March 5 and 12 at 2pm in the Robert Russell Theater at the Alper JCC,
11155 SW 112th Avenue in Kendall.

"We are going all out to make it a spectacular success, says
director Debra Ginsberg and we have the team with which to do it!
Randy Lichtman, our Musical Director along with Margie Elias Eisenberg our
Choreographer are both extraordinary and accomplished people in their
respective fields of expertise.  We have paid a lot of attention to the
show's lighting, sound and set design. Colin Kendrew, the shows
Technical Director has painstakingly recreated the famous CATS junkyard that
we have all come to know and love, as well as some spectacular lighting
effects."

The show features a  17-piece orchestra to back up a cast of more than thirty people. A chorus of off-stage voices, including a number of Ginger Snapps from Ocean Reef, will add additional support to this production. Special appearance by the Gulliver Academy chorus will add to the show's extravaganza.

The show, is based on the poems of T.S. Eliot as contained in
his book, Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats.  It is poetry set to the
music of the legendary Andrew Lloyd Webber, who also composed Evita,
Starlight Express, and Phantom of the Opera, among others.
