BEAUTIFUL, AN AMERICAN IN PARIS & More Set for Kravis Center's 2016-17 Broadway Season

The Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts is proud to announce the ninth annual series of Kravis On Broadway, which will present a record number of seven smash hits from the Great White Way, including several multiple Tony Award® winners.

"The 2016-2017 Kravis On Broadway season boasts a powerful line-up and four of them are making their Kravis Center debut," says Lee Bell, the Kravis Center's Senior Director of Programming. "Best of all, for the first time, we will be presenting as many as seven major shows."

THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT TIME

The winner of five Tony Awards® including Best Play, THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME is making its Kravis Center debut. Hailed as "One of the most fully immersive works ever to wallop Broadway" by The New York Times, this is a "dazzling" (Associated Press) adaptation of the play by Simon Stephens, adapted from Mark Haddon's best-selling novel, and directed by Tony® winner Marianne Elliott. Fifteen-year-old Christopher has an extraordinary brain; he is exceptionally intelligent but ill-equipped to interpret everyday life. THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA

Cameron Mackintosh's spectacular new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA premieres at the Kravis Center as part of a brand new North American Tour. Critics are raving that this breathtaking production is "bigger and better than ever before" and features a brilliant new scenic design by Paul Brown, Tony Award®-winning original costume design by Maria Björnson, lighting design by Tony Award®-winner Paule Constable, new choreography by Scott Ambler, and new staging by director Laurence Connor. Inspired by true events, KINKY BOOTS takes you from a gentlemen's shoe factory in Northampton to the glamorous catwalks of Milan. Charlie Price is struggling to live up to his father's expectations and continue the family business of Price & Son. With the factory's future hanging in the balance, help arrives in the unlikely but spectacular form of Lola, a fabulous performer in need of some sturdy new stilettos. THE SOUND OF MUSIC

"The hills are alive" again in this brand new production of THE SOUND OF MUSIC, directed by three-time Tony Award® winner Jack O'Brien and hailed by the Los Angeles Times as "Sparkling, fresh and lively." The beloved musical story of Maria and the von Trapp Family will once again thrill audiences with its Tony®, Grammy® and Academy Award® winning Best Score, including "My Favorite Things," "Edelweiss" and the title song. This family favorite enjoyed extraordinary success a live television production when "The Sound of Music Live!" aired on NBC in December, 2013 and was seen by over 44 million people. 2015 marked the 50th anniversary of the film version, which continues to be the most successful movie musical in history.
