Ashley Brown, who stars in the title role of Broadway's classic musical, Mary Poppins, will return to her hometown to perform "An Evening With Ashley Brown" with the 65-member Pensacola Symphony Orchestra and special guests the Pensacola Children's Chorus at the Olive Baptist Church (1836 East Olive Road) in Pensacola, FL on Saturday, February 9 at 8pm.

An Evening With Ashley Brown
and the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra and special guests the Pensacola Children's Chorus marks the first time Ashley will have performed in Pensacola since she graduated from high school.  Ashley is thrilled to be performing selections from the many Disney Productions she has starred in (including Mary Poppins, Beauty and the Beast and On the Record) as well as some repertoire that will be new for her and her audiences.  Highlights include selections from Maury Yeston's song cycle "December Songs," a jazz medley of Rodgers and Hart love songs, and other selections spanning five decades of Broadway history, from Frank Loesser to Stephen Sondheim, to Flaherty and Ahrens.

Brad Haak, conductor for Mary Poppins on Broadway, serves as music director for the evening.  Haak also supplies Ms. Brown's arrangements and orchestrations; additional orchestrations are by Andy Grobengieser, Greg Anthony and Larry Moore. The Pensacola Symphony Orchestra is conducted by Peter Rubardt.

A native of Gulf Breeze, Florida, Ms. Brown began singing in her church choir at age six and was a member of the Pensacola Children's Chorus.  She began acting in musicals with the drama department at Gulf Breeze high school in her freshmen year.  She earned her BFA in Musical Theatre from the University of Cincinnati's College Conservatory of Music in 2004, where she was classically trained as a singer.  After graduation, Brown caught the attention of casting director Tara Rubin and was cast in Disney's national tour of On the Record.  She made her Broadway debut in 2005 as Belle in Disney's Beauty and the Beast.  For her performance in Mary Poppins, Ms. Brown received Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, and Drama League nominations.

For tickets to "An Evening With Ashley Brown" and the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra and special guests the Pensacola Children's Choir, call the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra Office at (850) 435-2533.  Ticket prices start at $35.00
