American Stage Theatre Company Announces Upcoming "After Hours" Cabaret Events, 10/23-11/28

American Stage Theatre Company's "After Hours" Cabaret series continues with five new productions running in October and November. All performances are "Pay-What-You-Can" at the door and $10 in advance.

LOVE AND OTHER NATURAL DISASTERS

Friday, October 23 at 9 p.m.
Saturday, October 24 at 9 p.m.
Sunday, October 25 at 7 p.m.

Celebrate the end of hurricane season with a survival kit of love songs that will take you from "Bewitched", "Bothered and Bewildered" to some very "Stormy Weather". You'll explore love, lust and loss through the musical minds of Cole Porter, Rodgers and Hart, Harold Arlen, Irving Berlin, Stephen Sondheim and other masters of the great American song. Featuring Paul Wilborn on piano and vocals, Frank Bowman on sax and clarinet, Harlan Brown on drums, and Miss Eugenie Bondurant on vocals.

A Cabaret featuring Poet-singer Erica C. Sutherlin

American Stage audiences will remember Erica from her arresting performance in last summer's hit play Doubt. Erica now presents a cabaret that will take you through a soul-grabbing journey with ear-caressing melodies and contemplative lyrics searching for love, truth, empowerment and goodness in this world of chaos and confusion. Accompanying Erica are drummer Ryan Copeland, keyboardists Geoffrey Rogers and Josh Neri and singers Trinity Anderson, Jessica Sweet and Cranstan Cumberbatch. Featuring THE DUMB SHOW by Gavin Hawke and Ricky Wayne. A hilarious, irreverent take on the world, starting with a simple audience suggestion, after which Hawk and Wayne create a series of characters and scenes that showcase the best and worst of humanity, and will have you laughing and shaking your head in wonder at the same time.

FROM HAVANA TO HELL'S KITCHEN: A LATIN CABARET

Area favorite Jorge Acosta returns to the bay from New York City, bringing an evening of not so well known songs from Broadway, a few art songs, and some Latin Standards. Toss in some rum, humor, lime, fun stories, and it's a perfect mix.

A Spoken Word Cabaret featuring Aleshea Harris

Original soul-stirring music and no-holds-bar spoken word poetry are the stars of this event. The brainchild of local scribe and performing artist, Aleshea Harris, GRIT AND SILK is an evening of unabashed musings on everything from love and hope to war and breasts. Without missing a beat, Harris calls upon the grit of dark days and the silk of happy times in an evocative fusion of words and song. A Bag of Beans Production.
