Wins 'Arts Administrator of the Year' Award
The Cultural Foundation of Broward recently named Barbara O'Keefe and the Coral Springs Museum of Art as the winner of the coveted 2009 Moretti Award for Artistic Achievement in cultural excellence; and Artserve named Broward Cultural Division's grants administrator, Jim Shermer, as the 'Arts Administrator of the Year,' in the 20th annual ArtServe Encore Awards program.
ArtServe and title sponsor BankAtlantic recently announced the winners of this annual ArtServe Encore Awards program, emceed this year by CBS4/My33 News Reporter Joan Murray, in recognition of those who have shown outstanding dedication and support of the Broward County arts and cultural community.
The winners were chosen by an esteemed panel of judges including: Edith Gooden-Thompson, Chair of the Broward Cultural Council; Chris Tiedje of the Sun-Sentinel; Mark Budwig of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce; Carey McKearnan of JES Publishing; and Pam Dearden of Gold Coast Jazz Society.
The winner from each category will receive an original piece of artwork created specially for this event by the 2008 Encore Artist of the Year, Timothy Leistner. The luncheon will take place on May 15, 2009, at 11:30 a.m. at the Hyatt Regency Pier Sixty-Six in the Panorama Ballroom; and will include a silent auction, champagne reception, and live entertainment including performances by JP Taravella ROTC Color Guard and the Sunshine Chordsmen.
