In an unprecedented season presenting five new works in its six-show subscription season, the theatrical world-premiere, science fiction play Last Ship to Proxima CentauriI opened Friday, March 4, and will be on stage through March 20. A digital-on-demand production (a limited number of tickets on sale now) will be available from March 16 through April 3.
In the midst of the winter doldrums and yet another pandemic surge, Maine's theatre scene is experiencing a hiatus. Several companies have been forced to cancel shows or postpone openings, and all are struggling mightily to fulfill their programming plans and bring Mainers the live theatre they crave.
Portland Stage has announced that New England's most prestigious playwriting contest, the Clauder Competition, is accepting submissions for the 2022 Competition through March 31, 2022.
