Maine State Music Theatre's (MSMT) production of Chamberlain: A Civil War Romance brings the life of Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain to the stage. The story centers on his relationship with his wife, Fannie, and explores the trials and tribulations of a man committed to his family as well as his country. Music is by Steven M. Alper, with book and lyrics by Sarah Knapp.

MSMT's Artistic Director Curt Dale Clark, says: "I began researching the play, the man himself, and all that surrounds Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain. I even made the trek to Gettysburg where it all became very real to me. I am happy to be part of a show that tells the story of a man who helped to cement the State of Maine's place in American history."

The production is directed and choreographed by Marc Robin, who last season directed Les Miserables and Mary Poppins for MSMT. His vision for Chamberlain focuses on the courage, honor, and humility of a hero still relevant in today's society.

Chamberlain had its World Premiere on the MSMT stage in 1996. It is the only show in MSMT history to completely sell out before the run of the show began.

James Patterson, who has Broadway and national tour credits, including Mary Poppins, Beauty and the Beast, Cats, and State Fair, leads the cast as Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain. His wife, Fannie Adams Chamberlain is played by Kathy Voytko. Voytko has appeared on Broadway inOklahoma!, NINE, The Frogs, The Pirate Queen, and Next To Normal. They are joined by Ben Mayne as John Chamberlain, Sam Weber as Tom Chamberlain, Mike Schwitter as Jebediah Logan, and MSMT favorite, David Girolmo as Reverend Adams.

In addition to Robins Direction, the Music Director is Ray Fellman who is making his MSMT debut. The design team includes Scenic Designer Robert Klingelhoefer, Lighting Designer Jeffrey S. Koger, Costume Designer Kurt Alger, Sound Manager Colin Whitely, Props Master Kyle Melton, Stage Manager Mark Johnson and Assistant Stage Manager Amy M. Bertacini.

Maine State Music Theatre's entire 2014 Season is sponsored by The Highlands and Highland Green. Chamberlain is sponsored by Norway Savings Bank, Mid Coast Hospital, Goodwin Motor Group, and Norton Insurance - Financial.
