Carla Bley is a key figure in the jazz scene while remaining one of its most fanciful figures and iconoclastic. Pianist, composer, arranger, musician U.S. is one of the few women who is not a singer, to achieve a high degree of notoriety in the jazz. Exploring in many ways the music of her country, she joined in a patchwork skilled and informed an eclectic set of references, popular and scholarly, with a sense of drama and humor that makes her highly personal musical universe. Michael Mantler, Carla directs the Jazz Composers' Orchestra and works eaavec Robert Wyatt and Nick Mason (Pink Floyd). She signed in 1983 the innovative music of the film "Lethal hike" by Claude Miller. In forty-year career, this worthy successor to Charles Mingus, Gil Evans and Duke Ellington, has transformed the concept of the Big Band. The success of his brilliant jazz opera "Escalator Over the Hill" in 1971, gives it a worldwide reputation. In 1985 she released "Songs with legs", an album recorded live during the tour of a famous trio formed with two long-time accomplices, bassist Steve Swallow and saxophonist Andy Sheppard. The famous trio on stage a delicate and intimate jazz, welded by a beautiful friendship.
