Kentucky Shakespeare is proud to announce their 2016 Season. The company is currently touring the state with the educational outreach tour serving over 50,000 students this year, and the season for the public beginning in January, 2016 will serve over 30,000 more. The season includes the Shakespeare in The Parks Tour, the 56th annual Kentucky Shakespeare Festival in Central Park, and new to the lineup - Kentucky Shakespeare's first ticketed indoor Shakespeare production - Twelfth Night at the Kentucky Center of Performing Arts.

Kentucky Shakespeare will begin its season indoors with the production of Twelfth Night presented by the Kentucky Center of Performing Arts in the Bomhard Theater, January 5th - 10th. "We are delighted to present our first, indoor winter Shakespeare production. It's an opportunity for us to explore a full-scale piece outside of the summer festival and for our audiences to experience this exquisite comedy in the beautiful setting of the Bomhard Theatre - all the week of the actual Twelfth Night," said Kentucky Shakespeare Producing Artistic Director Matt Wallace. "We couldn't make this big step without the support of the Kentucky Center and the generosity of the Burton D. Morgan Foundation."

In late March, Kentucky Shakespeare moves outside with the 3rd Annual Shakespeare in the Parks Tour. Kentucky Shakespeare brings an 80-minute, 7-actor version of Romeo and Juliet to area parks through out Jefferson County and Southern Indiana, March through May. "We already have 20 parks throughout the area booked including Emerson, E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park, Highview, Hounz Lane, Iroquois, Petersburg, Riverview, Russell Lee, Shawnee, South Central, Story Avenue, Sun Valley, Tyler, and Victory Parks in Metro Louisville sponsored by 17 Metro Council Members, plus Robsion Park in Lyndon, Historic Locust Grove, Veteran's Park in Jeffersontown, Bicentennial and Silver Street Parks in New Albany, and the Big Four Station Park in Jeffersonville. New Albany, Jeffersonville, Jeffersontown, and Lyndon," explains Matt Wallace. "Accessibility is what Kentucky Shakespeare is all about. So we'll be bringing it to your neighborhood!"

The 2016 Free Kentucky Shakespeare Festival in Central Park kicks off it's professional season with The Two Gentlemen of Verona on June 1st, then The Winter's Tale on June 16th, followed by Romeo and Juliet on July 30th.

The Globe Players Conservatory will present As You Like It, July 27th - 30th.

CenterStage at the Jewish Community Center will present the first musical on Kentucky Shakespeare's stage, the classic musical based on Romeo and Juliet - West Side Story, August 2nd - 7th. The musical features music by Leonard Bernstein, libretto by Stephen Sondheim, and book by Arthur Laurents.

Back by demand is Late Night Shakes with the Louisville Improvisors with four late night improvised Shakespeare shows, June 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th.

The three productions will run in rotating repertory from July 12th to July 24th with all three productions being performed in a single night on July 23th.

"The Two Gentlemen of Verona hasn't been performed professionally on our stage since 1996, and the last time The Winter's Tale was on our stage was 1989, so we're excited to bring these plays back to the stage," says Wallace, "We'll round it out with the classic Romeo and Juliet. We're looking to continue the wonderful momentum from the last two seasons and serve even more people through the 2016 Festival."

The Festival will again feature nightly pre-show entertainment, the Brown-Forman bar, and food trucks from the Louisville Food Truck Association.
