Bourbon Baroque's DIDO & AENEAS Comes to the Kentucky Center Tonight

By: Mar. 14, 2015

Bourbon Baroque's DIDO & AENEAS to combine classical and contemporary music and dance tonight, March 14 at 8 p.m. at the Kentucky Center's Bomhard Theater.

Dido and Aeneas is a tragic love story of operatic proportions. Amidst a background of enchantresses, spirits, and sailors of the sea, Henry Purcell's telling of the Queen of Carthage and her beloved Trojan War hero is a gem of the Baroque era that is profoundly relevant to modern audiences.

A unique collaboration between The Kentucky Center and Bourbon Baroque, this production will inter-relate the arts of contemporary and baroque dance, mask work, and pantomime - all accompanied by the expanded force of Bourbon Baroque on period instruments. Featuring baroque dancer Sarah Edgar, theatrical artists Gregory and Abigail Maupin, contemporary dancers, and singers of the Youth Performing Arts School's Choral Department under the direction of Jacob Cook.

Sung in English with English subtitles. Tickets are $25. Kentucky Center Members call the Member hotline at (502) 566-5144. Standard tickets available at www.kentuckycenter.org/presents, by phone (502-584-7777, 800-775-7777), and in-person at The Kentucky Center box office and drive-thru. Call (502) 566-5111 (V) for information about the range of accessibility options we offer to enhance your performance experience.
