Actors Theatre announced today that their upcoming production of Dominique Morisseau's Detroit '67 will be cancelled, following the unexpected passing of company member Owiso Odera.

"It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Owiso Odera on November 3rd. He was a cherished member of the cast of our upcoming production of Detroit '67," said Les Waters and Kevin E. Moore of Actors Theatre in a joint statement. "Owiso was an accomplished and talented actor with an impressive list of theatre, television and film credits. However, he was much more than just a colleague. Owiso was a dear friend to many, and will be immensely missed by the performing arts communities all across the country. All of us at Actors Theatre are sending our deepest condolences to his family and friends at this very difficult time."

Scheduled to appear in the Bingham Theatre as part of the Brown-Forman Series, Detroit '67 was to have played 31 performances from November 15th to December 11th. Actors Theatre Box Office representatives are prepared to offer assistance to single ticket buyers, who may call 502.584.1205 for questions regarding exchanges. Season Ticket Holders and group sales leaders will be contacted about their subscriptions and group ticket packages.
