Willy Wonka JR at Historic Hoover Theatre

Playful People Productions, a theater education nonprofit in San Jose, presents Willy Wonka JR at the Historic Hoover Theatre, May 15–24, 2026. Based on the book Charlie and The Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl, the musical follows enigmatic candy manufacturer Willy Wonka as he hides golden tickets in five candy bars, offering the finders a tour of his factory and a lifetime supply of candy. Four casts of performers ages four to 12 bring the story to life, directed by Katie D'Arcey and Shannon Santandrea, with the homeschool cast directed by Alicia Sanders. Brian Kemper serves as vocal co-director for all four casts, with Elaine Saum as vocal co-director for all casts except the homeschool cast.
