Robert Heide: In Search of Lost American Playwrights at Odyssey Theatre

Part of Odyssey Theatre Ensemble's Thresholds of Invention series, this afternoon of readings introduces Los Angeles audiences to playwright and Warhol collaborator Robert Heide, who died on December 17, 2025 and was recognized as a pioneer of the Off-Off Broadway era. Selections include readings from short plays Mother Suck, The Bed, and Remember, preceded by an excerpt from Tropical in Key West, showcasing Heide's poignant and darkly hopeful depictions of ordinary people. The event features Jacque Lynn Colton, Gera Hermann, Paul Lieber, Harvey Perr, and Mark Simon, with the series curated by Tony Abatemarco and produced by Beth Hogan and Tony Abatemarco.
