Two Latino solo shows share one stage for two nights during Hispanic Heritage Month, asking the same question from opposite coasts: who gets to decide what a Latino is.
In Dancing with Demons, Richard Velazquez traces a Jehovah's Witness childhood on the 1980s Lower East Side, a first crack sale at fifteen, and the four decades after.
In Hollywood Chola, written by Real Women Have Curves author Josefina López, Yelyna De León plays a Chicana actress ordered into anger management after an altercation with a studio security guard.
Each show is followed by a talkback with the artist.
Yelyna De León and Richard Velazquez will headline a Hispanic Heritage Month double bill at The Hudson Theatre in Hollywood, pairing HOLLYWOOD CHOLA with the world premiere of DANCING WITH DEMONS.
