Texmas Makes World Premiere in Burbank

By:

The Third Stage Company will present the world premiere of TEXMAS, a holiday comedy play, opening Friday, December 1, 2006 at the Third Stage in Burbank, Calif.

Written by William Wright, of the Groundlings and Acme Comedy Theater, and directed by Matt Roth, a member of Steppenwolf in Chicago and regular on "Desperate Housewives," TEXMAS is the first full length play for both talents.

"TEXMAS is the hilarious and poignant story of Dot, a 70 year old grandmother with a 35 year old husband and her four children who come together over the Christmas holiday. You think you're family's crazy?  Meet the Armbrusters.  Dot is a grandmother with a passion for Jimmy George, a simple-minded maintenance man that's half her age. Dorsey, her son, is a gay actor living in Los Angeles and hasn't been back to Texas in five years. Pam, the youngest daughter, simply has two hobbies she adores, drinking and whoring. Tammy is a soon to be grandmother, thanks to her 15 year old stepdaughter.  Robin, the oldest, is menopausal and can't stop crying.  Fueled by a box of wine and vodka, this Texas family is about to wrestle with a frozen turkey as well as plenty of pent-up family emotional baggage on Christmas Eve and all hell is about to break loose!" according to a press release.

The cast will include Justin Tanner, Joe Reynolds, Cody Chappel, James Henriksen, Maile Flanagan, Danielle Kennedy, Rebecca O'Brien and Sheila Shaw, with set and lighting design by Henricksen.

TEXMAS has a limited run through Friday, December 22, 2006, will a preview performance on Thursday, November 30.  Ticket prices are $20 and can be purchased at 818-842-4755.  The Third Stage Company is located at 2811 Magnolia Boulevard, Burbank.
