Dillon Klena Takes on Dmitry in ANASTASIA at La Mirada Theatre
The production runs at the Southern California venue in summer 2026.
La Mirada Theatre has released a new video introducing Dillon Klena as Dmitry, the roguish street-smart con man at the center of ANASTASIA, which runs at the Southern California venue through June 28, 2026. The clip offers audiences an early look at Klena in the role ahead of the production's limited engagement.
ANASTASIA is built on a book by Terrence McNally, with music by Stephen Flaherty and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens — the same songwriting team behind RAGTIME and ONCE ON THIS ISLAND. The musical follows a young woman known as Anya who may or may not be the lost Russian princess, tracing her journey from the streets of St. Petersburg to the glittering world of Paris alongside Dmitry, who begins as her scheming partner and becomes something far more.
The La Mirada production carries particular resonance for Klena, a 27-year-old Southern California native whose older brother, Derek Klena, originated the role of Dmitry during the show's Broadway run. Stepping into a part shaped by a family member adds a layer of personal stakes to what is already a high-profile regional engagement closing out La Mirada Theatre's 2025–2026 season. Tickets are available at LaMiradaTheatre.com.
BroadwayWorld has been following this production closely since casting was announced — Dillon Klena spoke at length about the unique experience of inhabiting a role his brother made famous, and first-look photos from preview performances have already offered a glimpse of the production's visual ambition.
