TEXAS MUSIC REVOLUTION Documentary Heads to LA With Music Contest

TEXAS MUSIC REVOLUTION, a new music documentary centered on the Texas Music Revolution festival and the Red Dirt music scene, will screen at three Laemmle Theatres locations across Los Angeles this May.

The film features appearances by Kiefer Sutherland alongside musicians connected to the worlds of outlaw country, Americana, and Red Dirt music.

Directed by Emmy-nominated cinematographer Troy Paff (Dirty Jobs), the documentary follows KHYI-FM 95.3 The Range general manager and festival founder Joshua Jones as he organizes the 25th anniversary edition of the Texas Music Revolution festival during the return of live music following the pandemic.

According to the film’s synopsis, TEXAS MUSIC REVOLUTION explores the independent Texas music scene that helped popularize the Red Dirt sound inspired by artists including Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson. The documentary also examines the role of KHYI-FM in supporting independent country and Americana artists over more than two decades.

SCREENING SCHEDULE

The film will screen Monday, May 18, 2026 at Laemmle NoHo 7 in North Hollywood, Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at Laemmle Royal in West Los Angeles, and Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at Laemmle Newhall in Santa Clarita.

Additional details and ticket information are available through Texas Music Revolution Documentary.

MUSIC SUBMISSION OPPORTUNITY

In conjunction with the screenings, Texas Music Revolution and KHYI 95.3 The Range are inviting Los Angeles-based country, Americana, and Red Dirt artists to submit original music for possible radio airplay consideration.

Artists are asked to take a photo outside one of the participating Laemmle screening locations on its designated screening day and post it to Instagram or Facebook tagging @tmr.movie and @953therange. Participants may then email the photo, a streaming link to one original song, and artist information to TMR@khyi.com with the subject line “TMR LA - Music Submission - [Artist Name].”

One artist will be selected for a single on-air spin on August 1, 2026 on KHYI 95.3 The Range. The station noted that submissions do not guarantee airplay.

CREDITS

TEXAS MUSIC REVOLUTION is directed by Troy Paff and written by Troy Paff, Brandon Faris, and Joseph Vele. Producers include Troy Paff and Joshua Jones, with Brandon Faris serving as editor and Troy Paff as cinematographer.
