Stonehaven Studios will present the 2nd Annual Afrofuturist Art Fairs, a free two-part community arts experience taking place across Burbank and Inglewood for Juneteenth week. Designed as guided experiences rather than drop-in events, each gathering features curated programming from start to finish, encouraging audiences to arrive on time and engage with the full experience.
The Industry Night Kickoff will take place Monday, June 15 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at The Colony Theatre in Burbank. It will focus on creatives, artists, and industry professionals, featuring performances, artist showcases, film screening, and networking opportunities with a live interview with Shola Adewusi, a multidisciplinary artist exploring the future of black artistry with her series Murdering Jazz. The Closing Celebration will follow on Saturday, June 20 from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Willie Agee Playhouse in Inglewood to center families and community members with hands-on activities, youth programming, film screening, and multigenerational engagement. Registration available via Eventbrite.
The Afrofuturist Art Fairs center community impact and artist development through live performances, visual art, storytelling, and interactive programming. Held during Juneteenth week, the events bring together emerging artists, community members, and creative collaborators in a structured and accessible environment. Since its launch, the Afrofuturist Art Fair has served as Stonehaven Studios' annual community impact initiative, supporting emerging artists while providing accessible arts programming.
Programming includes curated art galleries, live performances, film screenings, author meet-and-greets, book signings, interactive workshops, youth programming, artist marketplace opportunities, and raffle prizes. Attendees will also have opportunities to engage with artists connected to the BLACKTOPIA Afrofuturist series and participate in programming rooted in Afrofuturism and Sankofa principles.
