NFMLA Film Festival to Spotlight LGBTQ+ Cinema and FIFA World Cup Countries

NewFilmmakers Los Angeles (NFMLA) will host its June Monthly Film Festival with a lineup centered on its annual InFocus: LGBTQ+ Cinema program.

The event will feature two shorts programs showcasing work by emerging LGBTQ+ filmmakers, alongside the Los Angeles premiere of MISTAKE, the debut narrative feature from writer-director Honey Lauren.

NFMLA's InFocus: LGBTQ+ Cinema initiative highlights a range of stories and perspectives from LGBTQ+ creators working across narrative, documentary, and experimental filmmaking. The annual program is presented as part of Pride Month programming and serves as a platform for emerging voices in independent film.

The June festival will also include a special shorts program inspired by FIFA World Cup 26, which is set to take place in Los Angeles and other host cities across North America. The program will spotlight films connected to countries participating in the tournament.

Founded in 2007, NewFilmmakers Los Angeles supports emerging filmmakers through screenings, networking opportunities, educational initiatives, and year-round programming designed to connect artists with industry professionals.
