LIFE OF MOZART Will Be Presented By Pasadena Choral Society
The concert takes place at San Marino Community Church, featuring an actor portraying Mozart.
The production features musician and actor Milo Brody portraying Mozart in an immersive theatrical setting. The performance is part of the ensemble’s second season and will be offered free to the public.
The Pasadena Choral Society will conclude its second season with Life of Mozart, a concert performance that presents a dramatic frame for Mozart’s Requiem. The event will take place on Wednesday, May 20 at 7:30 p.m. at the San Marino Community Church.
The Pasadena Chorale’s newest ensemble will invite audiences to experience Mozart’s final masterpiece through a combination of live choral performance and theatrical storytelling. The production will feature an actor portraying Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, speaking the composer’s own words while tracing the creation of the Requiem.
Mozart’s Requiem, famously left unfinished at the time of his death, has remained one of the most iconic and enigmatic works in the choral repertoire. For more than two centuries, the piece has inspired ongoing fascination, with speculation surrounding its origins and enduring recognition for its emotional depth and musical complexity.
In Life of Mozart, the Pasadena Choral Society will present the Requiem exclusively in the form Mozart himself completed, offering audiences the opportunity to hear the work as he left it. Interwoven throughout the performance will be a dramatic narrative brought to life by musician and actor Milo Brody, who will portray Mozart using excerpts from his letters. The performance aims to highlight the composer’s thoughts, struggles, humor, and humanity, creating an experience that blends concert performance with theatrical interpretation.
The production also marks a homecoming for Brody, a Pasadena native and alumnus of the Pasadena Chorale’s “Listening to the Future” young composer program. A graduate of the Pasadena Waldorf School, he previously performed with the Pasadena Youth Symphony Orchestra and now studies Trombone Performance and English at Oberlin College and Conservatory, where he performs with the Oberlin Orchestra, Brass Ensemble, Baroque Ensemble, and sings with the Collegium Musicum.
By combining theatrical storytelling with a major choral work, Life of Mozart offers audiences a concert experience centered on artistic legacy and the creative process. Admission is free and open to the public.
