Rev. Hixon co-founded the Delta Heart ministry in Maine, a 15-year ministry featuring a large, regional ecumenical choir drawing choir members from as many as 15 different communities and a variety of denominations, singing in one voice as they traveled to various churches and public venues presenting Christmas and Easter cantatas each year. Another arm of the ministry known as the Delta Heart Trio, a Southern Gospel group, also traveled and ministered throughout central and southern Maine. In addition to music, Rev. Hixons professional career was in the field of education for 30 years. He taught physical education and health for 15 years before moving into the administrative side of education, serving in both private and public schools as Dean of Students, Athletic Administrator, Director of Transportation, and finally completing his career as Assistant Principal. During his 30 years as an educator, Rev. Hixon also coached soccer at middle school, high school, and college levels.
