Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center presents the Catherine Wheels Theatre Company of Scotland's production of Lifeboat - an extraordinary true story of courage, survival and enduring friendship - for ages 9 and older on Monday, May 11 at 10:00 am. All tickets are $10 and can be purchased by calling Cheryl Wheeler at (631) 288-2350 ext 102.

Set during World War II, Lifeboat is the true story of Bess Walder and Beth Cummings. On Friday, September 13, 1940, a ship, The City of Benares, set sail from Liverpool for Canada. On board were 90 evacuees - children escaping the relentless bombing and dangers of war torn Britain. Four days into the crossing, the ship was torpedoed and sank. Only eleven of the evacuees survived. Two 15-year-old girls, Bess and Beth, spent 19 terrifying hours in the water on an upturned lifeboat. They willed each other to survive. Lifeboat is their story - a powerful, uplifting and life-affirming drama told with lightness and humor.
