QSAC’s Got Talent Competition Judged by Online and Live Audience Voters

QSAC is announcing a talent competition where the winner will be selected by both a live audience and the online community. Got Talent? A Competition to Benefit Autism, is currently accepting submissions, awarding the winning contestant an entertainment package worth over $1,000!

The competition is searching for talent in categories such as: singing, dancing, music, comedy, poetry, magic and more. A committee of industry professionals will select artists to perform in front of a live audience on 3 Monday nights (3/29, 4/5, 4/26) at VIG 27 in Manhattan.

The Semi Finals will be based on an online voting system. Each contestant will be designated a webpage on the event website to promote their talent and raise funds. ($1= one vote). The top 12 contestants will move on to the Live Finale Performance which will feature celebrity judges and performances. Both online voters and Audience members at the finale will cast their vote and the winner will be announced at the end of the show.

"There is a great deal of undiscovered talent especially in a place like New York City" said Gary A. Maffei, Executive Director of QSAC. "What a wonderful opportunity for QSAC to expand its visibility and raise much needed funds for our programs."

QSAC, one of the largest agencies dedicated specifically to autism and an award-winning organization, provides comprehensive services and programs to individuals with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and their families in New York City and Long Island. Founded in 1978, QSAC today has 21 facilities in Manhattan, The Bronx, Queens, and Nassau County. Over 2,000 people benefit yearly from its programs, including about 890 individuals who receive direct services. Many of QSAC's participants represent challenging cases referred to QSAC by the Boards of Education and New York State Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities. All of QSAC services are geared towards providing people with autism with the opportunity to develop the skills necessary to lead a more independent, productive and fulfilled life.

The Got Talent? A Competition to Benefit Autism finale will take place in May 2010 at a NYC venue TBD. Tickets range from $25-$100.
