The Northport Performing Arts Center (NPAC) will present live, professional theater this summer as well as holiday performances later in the year at The Northport Theater, located at 250 Main Street, announced Jerome Vivona, NPAC's founder, President and Producing Artistic Director. NPAC also plans to launch its much-anticipated Apprentice Program, which will be open to all Long Island high school and college students.

NPAC will begin its premiere season with "The Broadway Series," which will include musicals with professional actors from Long Island and New York City. Details of dates, shows and featured actors will be announced shortly.

"We are thrilled to bring outstanding, high-caliber theatrical productions to Northport and the Long Island Community," said Vivona. "We have worked very hard to make this a reality. Even more exciting is NPAC's apprentice program, which will enable area youth to learn about theater, both in front of and behind the curtain, first hand, side-by-side, with seasoned pros."

The Northport Theater's prospective new owner, Dennis Tannenbaum, is working with NPAC to construct an appropriate, semi-permanent stage for these upcoming professional productions.

NPAC was founded by producer, director, choreographer Vivona, and other dedicated theatrical professionals, who wish to enrich the cultural and artistic enjoyment of Long Island theater audiences by bringing the Broadway experience closer to home. NPAC has the support of elected officials and residents who feel this extraordinary theater is a boon to Northport and the Long Island economy. More information on NPAC can be found at www.northportpac.org.

NPAC's advisory board includes award-winning actress Edie Falco, Tony Award winning theater and television stars John Lithgow and Brian Stokes Mitchell, screen, stage and television star Ralph Macchio, Tony Award winning director/choreographer Kathleen Marshall, Tony Award winning choreographer Rob Ashford, Circle in the Square theater co-founder Emily Fabella Stevens, Broadway and television actress/singer Susan Egan, Tony Award winning choreographer Wayne Cilento, award-winning Broadway and film actress Marla Schaffel, choreographer/performer Phil LaDuca, Broadway actor Joe Machota, award-winning Broadway and television actor David Garrison, internationally-recognized dance educator Elsa Posey, noted Broadway actress Patricia Ben Peterson and attorney/Councilman Edward Ambrosino.
