The Smith Center Opens Enrollment For Camp Broadway Summer Youth Theater Program

With the goal of helping Southern Nevada's children build confidence and embrace their love for performing, The Smith Center for the Performing Arts announced that enrollment is now open for its annual Camp Broadway summer youth theater program. Now in its eighth year, Camp Broadway includes two age-appropriate camps that teach performing arts skills to children and youths ages 6 to 17. Developed to boost confidence, team building and presentation skills through ensemble performance, Camp Broadway's immersive, weeklong programs provide a well-rounded musical theater experience in an educational and joyous format.

Led by top theater professionals with Broadway industry experience, camp activities include acting, singing and dance workshops, as well as exposure to the theatrical rehearsal process.

Participants will also learn scenes, songs, choreography and staging from some of Broadway's most renowned productions, and will give ensemble performances in Troesh Studio Theater and on stage in Reynolds Hall at The Smith Center for friends and family.

The Smith Center offers two Camp Broadway programs, detailed below.

Shining Stars Camp

Developed for children ages 6 to 9, this camp includes five half-day sessions of musical-theater creative play from July 8 to 12. Participants have a choice of morning or afternoon sessions. Shining Stars will learn songs, create original choreography, design sets and construct costumes based on a Broadway musical.

Mainstage Camp

Designed for youth ages 10 to 17, this camp includes five full days of musical-theater programming from July 15 to 19. Mainstage campers will perform two musical productions.

Program prices are set at $450 for Shining Stars Camp and at $695 for Mainstage Camp.

Camp Broadway is open to children and youth of all skill levels. No previous performing experience is necessary.
