In the Tent of Stars is a new family musical set in a small town north of Kansas City in 1918, weaving history with magical realism. The story centers on two young boys: Lincoln, whose identity is tied to the spotlight, and Alex, a young popcorn vendor and part-time vaudeville performer harboring a secret about who he truly is. Created by John Corbin Goldsberry and Jay Gaumer and directed by Miss Hazel Jade, the production centers a transgender child lead within a commercial family musical and is being developed for future West End and Broadway stages. This staged reading marks the show's homecoming debut in Kansas City, presented by the Astrolabe Theater Company.
