Out To lunch Festival presents
Colombian born, Dorance Lorza has collaborated as a musician, arranger and musical director on numerous albums including Conjunto Son del Barrio's outstanding Rumba Antillana featuring Lucho Puerto Rico on lead vocals, Orquesta Internacional Los Niches, Los de Caney, Grupo Sonero, Orquesta Canela, Santiago Ceron and Fruko y Su Orquesta to name afew.
In 1996, he formed Sexteto Café, a London based seven piece band who have performed at Latin clubs and festivals throughout the UK including Dublin Jazz Festival, Nottingham Jazz Festival, Galway and Cork Jazz Festivals and Coin Street Festival . Their music boasts tremendous melodic variety and some highly stylised interpretations of traditional Caribbean music. In the style made famous in the 1950’s and represented by Tito Puente, the vibraphone takes centre stage played by Lorza himself.
In 2009 they headlined the London Mambo City 5 Stars Salsa Congress,in 2010 the Malta Salsa Congress and earlier this year headlined at the Scottish Salsa Congress. Dorance has been nominated for the LUKAS AWARDS Category " Latin Musician Of The Year 2011 "
