'Grey Gardens,' the 2007 character piece that originally featured a bravura turn and a Best Actress in a Musical Tony for Christine Ebersole, is the current, ambitious, fall offering from the Barn Players Community Theater in Mission through October 1. 'Grey Gardens' tells the story of a Mother and Daughter who struggle through a steep descent from American Aristocracy to poverty and health department threats of eviction from their Long Island mansion. It is a story we may never have heard except for that the Mother in our story was also Aunt to the late Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis.

Kansas City Actors Theatre Announces Cast and Creative Staff for Shakespeare's KING LEAR

Kansas City Actors Theatre has completed casting and started rehearsals for William Shakespeare's King Lear, a co-production with the UMKC Theatre Department. This is the third show of Kansas City Actors Theatre's thirteenth season, which will run from October 13th to the 22nd in the Spencer Theater on UMKC's campus. The production is being directed by Ryan Artzberger and will feature Theodore Swetz, Mark Robbins, Logan Black, Peggy Friesen, Heather Michele Lawler, Amy Billroth-MacLurg, Chelsea Kinser, Ken Sandberg, Duncan McIntyre, Jason Francescon, Freddy Acevedo, Charlie Spillers, Khalif Gillett, Jay Love, Joshua Woodall, and Jack Kneessy. The production will also feature the artistic efforts of Mark Exline (scenic designer), Caroline Allander, (costume designer), Shannon Barondeau (lighting designer), and Zach Pierson (composer).

Kansas City Repertory Theatre (KCRep) announced details on the launch of their five-year capacity building campaign, The Creative Future Fund (CFF).  The campaign supports new works, youth education programs, and audience engagement/development at KCRep and has a goal of $5,000,000.  Additionally, KCRep officials confirm a new matching gift from Bunni and Paul Copaken which will be a dollar for dollar $100,000 match in support of the New Works (OriginKC) aspect of the Creative Future Fund.
