Kansas City Southern Holiday Express Train Rolls Into Union Station Tomorrow, 12/15

Led by Rudy the smiling tank car, the Kansas City Southern (KCS) Holiday Express, will roll into Union Station this Friday, December 15 and remain through Tuesday, December 19. This holiday gift to the community allows children young, and young at heart, to meet Santa Claus and tour the train adorned from floor to ceiling with holiday decorations, lights, wintery scenes and toy trains. Tours are free and general admission is available every day.

Music Theatre Kansas City (MTKC) is well known around town for offering steady, top-quality musicals performed by the city's best youth talent. Last year, MTKC introduced its first paid-professional production with The Last Five Years and the start of the longtime local theater company's expansion into professional-level performances. This spring, they presented a sell-out production of Avenue Q as the Kansas City professional premiere.
Science City Set to Expand Computer Science Education

Union Station officials today announced a recent and substantial partnership with Code.org, a non-profit dedicated to expanding nationwide participation in computer science education. This $167,000 agreement will fund the delivery of critical computer science training to regional K-12 educators for the next two years. This commitment also expands a site affiliate partnership with Science City that began in 2015 and further validates the priority both organizations put on meeting the rapidly growing demand for computer science qualified job seekers.

The ensemble includes Taylor Avazpour, Katie Bartow, Sydney Benton, Amy Hurrelbrink, Lily Nicholas, Chris Owen, Fisher Stewart, Robert Erik Sobbe, and Morgan Walker.

The imagination of 16 elementary students in the Grandview School District will soon come to life at Science City. Today, organizers of Kansas City's favorite K-12 competition for science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) named the students of the FOCUS program at the Center for Alternative Instructional Resources (CAIR) the grand prize winner of the Burns & McDonnell Battle of the Brains. The proposed exhibit, called The Big Brain Theory, earns the Grandview FOCUS program a $50,000 grant and the chance to work along STEM professionals at Burns & McDonnell to transform its idea into a $1 million exhibit at Science City.
