Stitcher/Costume Assistant

La Comedia Dinner Theatre is seeking a Stitcher/Costume Assistant to join our team in creating and fitting costumes for our large scale musical theatre productions. La Comedia is a year-round 600-seat non-Union house producing 8 mainstage and 3 children's theatre productions each year.



Duties 

- Assemble and sew costumes as directed by the Costume Designer 

- Assist with fitting sessions, making necessary adjustments for optimal fit and comfort 

- Maintain and organize costume inventory, ensuring all pieces are properly stored and accounted for 

- Support costume construction by cutting fabrics, patterning, and applying embellishments or finishing touches 

- Assist in the repair, alteration, and cleaning of costumes to ensure they are ready for performances 



SKILLS

- Proficiency in sewing machine operation and hand-sewing techniques with attention to detail 

- Experience with garment construction, patterning, and fitting processes 

- Familiarity with theater production and understanding of performance needs and deadlines 

- Willingness to learn

- Ability to climb ladders to access costume storage 

- Ability to lift/carry costume boxes weighing up to 50 lbs 

 

This is full time position with daytime hours Monday-Saturdays and additional evening and weekend hours during Tech.
