Lighting & Projections Supervisor - Barrington Stage Co

Barrington Stage Company, an award-winning professional theatre company located in the heart of the Berkshires, is seeking a Lighting and Projections Supervisor to join our team in Pittsfield, MA. This position oversees the lighting department throughout the 2025 season and ensures high-quality lighting and projections in line with the artistic vision for all BSC productions. The Lighting and Projections Supervisor oversees the Associate Lighting Supervisor, Staff Electrician, Lighting Board Operators, and Spot Operators and acts as the Master Electrician for the Boyd-Quinson Stage. This position requires a driven individual with exceptional leadership skills, excellent organization and time management skills, and an extensive knowledge of theatrical lighting systems.

Responsibilities:



Manage the lighting team to provide electrics support for productions and events throughout the BSC 2025 season

Collaborate with lighting and projection designers to determine a seasonal rental package and source equipment to effectively create their designs in the theater

Maintain up-to-date paperwork for each production including, plot, channel hook-up and show run sheets

Consult with Production Management and the creative team to best meet the needs of the production and create accurate cost estimates to remain within budget

Coordinate with other departments to ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness when planning load-ins or changeovers

Ensure each production is ready to focus and tech per designer specifications

Coordinate and manage the hang, focus, and strike of lighting instruments, including supervising crews and setting crew calls

Provide Production Management with accurate load-in/out and changeover paperwork

Coordinate training for the stage crew as necessary to handle onstage practicals, and train follow-spot operators as needed

Attend rehearsals, technical rehearsals, and production meetings as needed, and promptly respond to notes given throughout the rehearsal process

Coordinate maintenance and repair of lighting instruments and equipment

Coordinate and manage the construction of any specialty items such as light boxes or star drops and LED tape projects

Accurately track expenses and provide expenditure reports to Production Management in a timely manner

Keep up to date on current trends and technologies in lighting design and suggest improvements to the company’s stock or lighting systems

Maintains clear and consistent communication with Production Management and other Department Heads to ensure effective collaboration throughout the season

Coordinate with Stage Management on rehearsal and tech notes

Keep the electrics shop and storage areas clean and free of debris, and ensure the shop is organized and functional

Maintain and update lighting inventory throughout the season

Maintain a safe and healthy working environment

Skills:



Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and time management skills

Ability to work as a member of a collaborative team

Knowledge of theatrical lighting systems and equipment

Knowledge of ETC Lighting Consoles and ETC Networking

Experience with HD Video systems and associated components

Experience with DMX equipment, atmospherics, moving lights, LED fixtures, and troubleshooting/system diagnosis

Experience with Vectorworks, Lightwright, and all standard theatrical lighting paperwork

Working knowledge of theatrical rigging, theatrical power systems, and wiring and soldering

Experience designing and building LED tape systems

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and comfortable working at heights

Proficient with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Adobe Acrobat







This position reports to Production Management. It is a full-time, seasonal position.

Contract:4/20/2025 through 9/28/2025.

Pay is $1000 per week, exempt, with housing available.
Salary: $1,000/wk.
