Starlight is seeking a people-oriented “Star” to join our Community Engagement team. This will be a full-time, salaried position that will work year-round. The Community Engagement Coordinator will assist with the development, coordination and execution of Starlight’s year-round, community-based initiatives. While supporting some aspects of existing community engagement programs, this role has an emphasis on new projects related to Starlight’s community presence, including but not limited to career pathway programs, access initiatives, arts education and school/community partnerships. Essential Functions & Duties: • In collaboration with the Community Engagement team, assist with the development and implementation of community engagement projects and programs by: • Providing day-to-day administrative support for the Community Engagement department. • Fostering relationships with local artists, community groups, businesses, nonprofits and program supporters. • Assisting the recruitment and training of various personnel required for program implementation. • Acting as a liaison with community leaders, school district personnel, artists, performers and program participants. • Coordinating with internal and external entities to schedule and confirm meetings, events, workshops and performances. • Centering equitable and inclusive practices in all project coordination. • Stewarding relationships with neighborhood residents and participating in community events. • Researching targeted information related to community programs and best practices within the field. • Tracking results of engagement efforts, including collection and compilation of various data points. • Meeting regularly with Starlight staff across the organization. • Understanding and committing to inclusion, diversity, equity and access (I.D.E.A.) at Starlight. Qualifications: The qualifications listed below are preferred, but not required. There is no single path to this work, and we do not expect any applicant to have all of these qualifications in their background. Someone qualified for this role might have experience as a neighborhood program coordinator, a working artist or as a community organizer (just to name a few examples). • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in the arts, education, public administration, family and community services, social work, communication or related field. • Prior experience in a community-oriented role, preferably involving interaction with young people, students or families. • Prior administrative experience within an arts organization, education institution or community nonprofit.
