Previews: JAKARTA PLAYERS to Dissect Childhood Trauma in Rajiv Joseph's GRUESOME PLAYGROUND INJURIES

Jakarta, May 02 2023 - After three years of hiatus due to the pandemic, Jakarta Players Community Theatre is thrilled to present Gruesome Playground Injuries by Rajiv Joseph. Over the course of 30 years, the lives of two person intersect at the most bizarre intervals, leading these childhood friends to compare scars and the physical calamities that keep drawing them together. Gruesome Playground Injuries will be performed four times over the course of three days.

Gruesome Playground Injuries follows the story of Kayleen and Doug, who reunite as adults and explore the complexities of their relationship and the injuries they have inflicted upon each other. The play delves into themes of love, loss, and the physical and emotional scars we carry throughout our lives. Woolly Mammoth Theatre describes the play as "a devastating and beautiful play about the toll of time and the weight of regret".

"We are excited to bring Gruesome Playground Injuries by Rajiv Joseph to the Jakarta theatre community," said the director of the production, Kiki Suryana. "This play is a powerful exploration of the human experience, and we hope that it will leave a lasting impact on our audiences."

Gruesome Playground Injuries by Rajiv Joseph, presented by Jakarta Players Community Theatre and venue collaboration with Raffles Christian School. The play will be opened on the evening of 12 May 2023 and closes on 14 May 2023, at the Auditorium of Raffles Christian School, Pondok Indah campus. This event is made possible by the support of Asian Tigers Mobility and Fortuna U, and the License managed by Harmonia Holdings, Ltd. under special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Ltd.
