Carmel, IN, April 11, 2018 - Actors Theatre of Indiana (ATI) —Carmel’s only professional resident theatre company with performances in The Studio Theater at The Center for the Performing Arts -- will present the Tony ® Award winner, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, April 27 – May 13, 2018.
Actors Theatre of Indiana’s 13th Season closes with the rip-snorting rendition of Rupert Holmes’ THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD, based on Charles Dickens’ unfinished novel of the same name. In this bombastic rendition of the whodunit Dickens’ mystery, the audience enters the action and becomes the ultimate detective, deciding who committed the dastardly deed! WINNER of the Tony Award® for Best Book, Best Original Score and Best Musical.
Writing music, lyrics, and book, Rupert Holmes took the central plot of Dicken’s unfinished novel, and most of the featured characters, and turned it into a rollicking fun play within a play. Tapping into Old English music hall traditions, Holmes created the lead character of "The Chairman", a sort of Master of Ceremonies and instigator of the action on stage, plus he retained the concept of the "Lead Boy" always portrayed by a young female in male drag. The most ground-breaking aspect of The Mystery of Edwin Drood, was it is the first Broadway musical with multiple endings. The AUDIENCE decides “whodunit”.

The Mystery of Edwin Drood runs Friday, April 27 through Sunday, May 17, 2018. Performances are Wednesdays at 7:30pm (discounted ticket rate of $25.00), Thursdays at 7:30pm, Fridays at 7:30pm, Saturdays at 7:30pm and Sundays at 2:00pm in The Studio Theater, 4 Center Green, Carmel, IN 46032. Ticket prices for all performances (except for Wednesdays) are $45.00 for adults, $39.00 for seniors, $20.00 for students (18 and younger).
