In partnership with Indy Jazz Fest and in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, join us for an electric evening with multi-Grammy Winner and Latin Grammy Award-winning singer, musician, songwriter, and actress Aymée Nuviola – AKA “La Sonera del Mundo.” Like the music from her native island of Cuba, she embodies an electric blend of musical genres, with a sound highly influenced by the Jazz, Bossa Nova, Cuban Son, Bolero, Fílin, Classical, and American genres.
Aymée was the first Latin American to sing in a special segment highlighting the historically underrepresented Tropical genre at the 2022 64th GRAMMY Awards. In 2021, she was selected by People en Español magazine among the “25 Most Powerful Latina Women in the United States” and by the magazine Hola as one of the "Latina 100 Top Powerhouses,” an annual initiative that pays tribute to the most influential and empowered Latinas of each year. Known as “La Sonera Del Mundo,” Aymée is one of the founders of the “Timba” genre and the first female to lead a “Timba” band around the world. She has also had the honor of working with top icons in the music industry. Known as "The Voice of EL FILIN of her generation," she grew up musically with some of the main exponents of this movement in Havana, such as Omara Portuondo, Elena Burke, and Jose Antonio Méndez, among others. She is currently honored to be a Governor of the Florida Chapter of the GRAMMY Recording Academy. Aymée has the honor of being the protagonist in the Telemundo/ NETFLIX telenovela about the life of Celia Cruz.
