Frank Basile Joins Phoenix Theatre Board of Directors

The Phoenix Theatre enters its 35th season with a new Board of Directors President, prominent civic leader and philanthropist, Frank Basile. Frank has long been a patron and significant donor to the theatre, with the flexible black box stage named in his and his wife Katrina's honor. Known throughout Indianapolis for his philanthropic work, Frank is also a professional speaker, author, columnist, community volunteer, retired property management executive, and world traveler. As a community volunteer, he has served as board chair or president of eleven not-for-profit organizations and currently serves on the board of six organizations. During his retirement, he served as interim CEO/President of the Center for the Performing Arts for fourteen months and as interim President of Heartland Film for nine months. Frank graduated from Tulane University in New Orleans, where he was valedictorian and president of the School of Business Administration student body. His hobbies include ballroom dancing, collecting art, and attending various performing arts events, including concerts, plays and dance performances. He was born in New Orleans, is married to Katrina, and has two sons, Jeff and Jason, and a step son, Joe Pickard.
Producing Director Bryan Fonseca is excited to have Frank rejoin the Phoenix team. He successfully guided us through our first capital campaign and brought extraordinary leadership in reshaping the board of directors to focus on the specific needs at the time. We hope to "recapture the magic" as we head into the biggest transition in our history.
Also joining the Board of Directors' leadership team is Mindy Shapiro, partner and attorney at Smith Amundsen, LLC, as Vice President, and Martha O'Connor as Secretary.
