Darakhte Azaade Hind is a theatrical production staged as part of Piyush Rang Mahotsav, a two-day tribute to the 71st birth anniversary of the late Padma Bhushan awardee Piyush Pandey, conceptualized by his sister and theatre personality Rama Pandey. Set in a village in Uttar Pradesh, the play centers on a 200-year-old neem tree that witnessed India's freedom struggle and is deeply intertwined with the identity of the Chaudhary family. When the tree faces destruction in the name of development, the family matriarch, Chaudharain, mounts a quiet but resolute resistance, embodying courage and sacrifice. Even in its fall, the tree leaves behind new saplings, representing hope and the enduring spirit of renewal.
